Cooper’s Hawk Arlington Heights event coordinator Maddi Dill shares her background, experiences and interests with planning large scale events.

1. Tell us about yourself!

Originally from Southern Illinois, I moved to the Chicagoland area to attend college. I earned my degree in Fashion Merchandising and Marketing from Harper College. Currently, I live in Elgin. In my free time, I love to find and try new restaurants that are distinctive and possess atmosphere. My first experience with the hospitality industry was with a small restaurant in my home town. I was mainly a hostess, among other positions, and I think the hospitality niche has always stuck with me. When I began working for Cooper’s Hawk more than four years ago, I felt right at home. I consider my merchandising and marketing background to be an edge with event planning and I continue to use these tools, as well as new experiences, to refine my planning point of view.

2. What kinds of events have you planned with Cooper’s Hawk?

I have done just about anything you can name. I have planned numerous engagement events, bridal showers, baby showers, rehearsal dinners and weddings. I have also done corporate events and meetings, birthdays, graduations, family gatherings, holidays and retirements.

3. Do you have a favorite Cooper’s Hawk event experience?

The first that comes to mind would be a bridal shower in which the mother of the bride, mother of the groom and future sister-in-law were hosting for the bride to be. They had so many wonderful ideas that it was easy to bounce ideas off each other to come up with the best option for them and their guests. There were so many customized options and more decoration than a typical event. Events with elaborate options and decoration are my favorite. Over the several months of planning and consistent communication, I came to know these guests very well. So once the shower was upon us, I was honored to have helped put the special day together with them.

4. What’s your favorite part about event planning with Cooper’s Hawk?

The accommodations we make for our guests and the options for creativity we offer. We do have standardized packages, however, we do our best to accommodate additional options and requests.

5. How much responsibility do guests have in planning events?

We take care of most of the event, however, the guest does have to give us some information to get started, as well as confirm these details towards the end of the booking process. Whether the guests prefer to handle certain details of their event on their own or let us take care of everything, we are here to assist in any way possible!

6. Why should guests choose Cooper’s Hawk for events?

Our three event rooms are so unique, this is something that they won’t find anywhere else nearby. The rooms have a feeling and atmosphere about them, on top of the menus and packages we have to offer. Cooper’s Hawk has an excellent staff that truly cares about their guests, and takes a sense of pride when executing a guest’s special event.
